Position: Executive Director
Overview: Baltimore Renters United (BRU) is a base-building organization building a tenant-led movement for housing justice in Baltimore. In collaboration with communities, organizers, legal advocates, and service providers, we use community organizing, political education, and advocacy to build the ranks of tenants who are prepared to advance renters’ rights and build tenant power in the city. We are seeking a dynamic executive director focused on building a powerful organization for tenants rights. Candidates should share BRU’s vision for a Baltimore where all renters have safe, stable, affordable, and fair housing and where all tenants, especially those who are marginalized by virtue of being Black, brown, low-income, or otherwise, are free from exploitation.
Job Summary: The Executive Director is a full-time position and will oversee all aspects of BRU’s operations, provide leadership in the creation and implementation of policies and programs to carry out the work of the organization, and collaborate with BRU’s Lead Organizer to identify and implement BRU’s strategic organizing and campaign priorities.
