Dear BOLD comrades,
After growing a base of incredible women with incarcerated loved ones in CA and with members in 27 states, we are expanding our team to meet the demand to organize even more of the 1 in 4 women who have loved ones behind bars and deepen the power of the base we have. At Essie, the pandemic further isolated our folks, so we are committing to getting our community back in-person with more healing, political education, and member-led strategy programming, and that means we need more staff. Help us spread the word: Essie. Is. Hiring!
I’d love personal responses with any individuals that come to mind as great fits for our dynamic Black feminist team. In case you would like to forward this email to people you know but don’t know us, Essie Justice Group is a loving and powerful community of women, gender non-conforming and trans people with incarcerated loved ones. We are a California-based organization focused on decarceration, race, and gender justice organizing. And we’re known for our innovative Black Feminist Institution Building and have been a certified “Great Place to Work” year over year.

We invest heavily in organizational culture and capacity building, through partners like The Management Center and BOLD.
